Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes & Family Ministries is the most diverse child and family service agency in Alabama. We are a non-profit ministry dedicated to protect, nurture and restore children and families through Christ-centered services.
- Statewide, we cared for 342 children in our foster homes, group homes and emergency shelters.
- Pathways Professional Counseling served a record 3,077 individuals.
- 95 mothers and their dependent children found a safe, stable place in which to live in our Family Care homes.
- At least 26 professions of faith in Jesus Christ and one other spiritual decision were made by individuals while in the care of the Children’s Homes in 2011.
We began providing homes for children in which they are loved and encouraged to fulfill their God-given potential in 1891. Since then, we have added services such as Family Care homes for homeless mothers and their children; Pathways Professional Counseling for families, couples and individuals of all ages; and seminars on child and family issues for churches, civic groups and others.
We have also increased our locations, beginning from one home in Evergreen to group homes and foster homes supported by five regional offices in Birmingham, Decatur, Dothan, Mobile and Oxford. We also have foster families in Autauga, Elmore and Montgomery counties, supported by an office in partnership with Montgomery Baptist Association and churches in the tri-county area. We have done all this in our pursuit of the vision of seeing hope and wholeness for children and families through knowing God.
