Sharing Food, Showing Love

Oct 30, 2010

Many Alabama children may not have eaten breakfast this morning. And the economy could be making things even worse.

Some of these children are the same ones who have since been placed in our care…

…Children like Jake, Preston and Davis. Abandoned by their mother, these brothers were being raised by a poor but loving neighbor. Rice was a staple in their diet because it was something she could afford. They often had rice for breakfast.

This is why your support of Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes (ABCH) is so important. You can give children like these boys a home where their physical needs are met.

The first thing the boys did at their new ABCH home was to run to the pecan tree and start stuffing their pockets. Pecans had been a meal more than once in the past.

It’s really sad how often the first thing we have to do when a new boy or girl arrives at one of our homes is feed them. So many times a child is hungry when they arrive. It almost always takes these children a little time to realize they no longer have to hoard food. They will always have enough because of your support.

Thanksgiving has an extra - special meaning for all the children in our care. They recognize more than some children how truly blessed they are and how much God loves them. They understand that your gifts help feed them physically and spiritually.

Can hungry children like Jake, Preston and Davis count on you to provide their meals this Thanksgiving?

Please give now through our secure donations page. $26.25 will feed a child for 1 week, $52.50 will feed a child for 2 weeks, and $112.50 will feed a child for a whole month. Your gift is making a difference in the lives of hungry and hurting children across Alabama.

This is why we are so very thankful for all the young lives like Jake, Preston and Davis who have been changed through God’s love and your support. Without you, we couldn’t provide the healthy meals, loving homes, professional counseling and so many other necessities throughout the year.

You can see why Thanksgiving is such a special time for every child at ABCH. We are all reminded of God’s blessings and provision through caring supporters like you.

Thank you for loving our children.

Have a blessed Thanksgiving,
Paul Miller
President/CEO

P.S. For a hungry child, no amount of love or counseling will ever make a difference until we’ve met that basic need. Please send your special Thanksgiving gift today so there will always be enough food for our children. Thank you.
