The ABCH Foster Care Difference
Below are some of the unique benefits to answering this call through Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes & Family Ministries.
-
The journey to foster parenting begins with a 10-week training course called TIPS. We also provide materials and workshops to meet the yearly 15-hour training requirement by DHR for foster parents. In addition to training, our social workers are a vital resource to foster families since they have the most up-to-date training in attachment and parenting techniques.
-
The services we provide are to assist children in reaching their full potential physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
-
We want the children we serve to know the Author of Hope, who can turn their tears of grief into dancing and laughter. That is why we place them in homes and with families that regularly direct them to Jesus Christ.
-
Because of the generous support of individuals, churches, and foundations, items such as school supplies, Christmas gifts, some clothing items, and more are provided to the children we serve.
-
We provide our foster parents a supplement to board payments, greatly assisting their journey of foster care.
-
Licensed, professional counseling services are provided to foster children and families through Pathways Professional Counseling at no cost to our foster families.
-
There are several events around the year where foster families are together, and we encourage them to build a community of support with each other.
-
Every summer, we provide an all-expense-paid camp with excellent training for our foster parents, as well as a fun camp experience for our children.
-
All of our foster families are provided a social worker. Our social workers advocate for the child and foster parents, as well as work with foster families from the first training, throughout the time children are in foster care.
