A Lifeline of Support: Natalie's Family Care Experience
Natalie* came to us with no place to go, and no family locally to turn to. She found herself, after 12 years of raising her boys, without a home and without a stable income, despite the hard work she put into two jobs. After speaking with someone at her church, she connected with us and was able to move into our Family Care home in Alabaster.
A LIFELINE
She soon found the program to be exactly the lifeline she needed to help her start anew. Natalie says, “It is a wonderful program all around, not just for the trauma we’d gone through, but the overall feel—it’s secure, welcoming, nurturing, reassuring, and supportive.”
More than the spiritual, emotional, and mental support, Natalie savored the gift of being able to save money while in the program. “The option to have a savings account helped leaps and bounds. To have that safety net was invaluable. You don’t just come [to Family Care] for shelter, you come here to be nurtured in a lot of ways. There’s no detail that’s overlooked!” she says.
CONTINUED SUPPORT AND LOVE
Even after she left the program, Natalie and her children have been able to continue benefitting from various parts of our ministry, such as counseling and education groups.
Cami Jones, her Family Care House Manager, says, “What a joy and privilege it was to walk alongside Natalie and her boys during their time with us! I think all our staff members would agree when I say we saw tremendous growth for Natalie. She took full advantage of all the resources ABCH was able to provide her family, and we saw the Lord provide healing in so many areas of her life. Natalie worked incredibly hard to save her money and is now able to provide a safe place to call her own for her family. We are excited to see the ways the Lord continues to work in her life in the days ahead and are grateful to have been even just a small part of their journey.”
Natalie raves about the connectedness and intentionality of the staff. She says, “I am so thankful that this program exists . . . I’m thankful and amazed that everyone involved goes to the lengths they do to help the people who go through these things to ensure not only their physical safety, but their overall well-being.”
