Award-Winning Series
Many of you may know that our Pathways professional counselors help children, families, and individuals seek solutions to their problems through direct counseling services offered all across Alabama. But what you may not know, is that they also help people throughout the year through a series of articles written in partnership with The Alabama Baptist newspaper.
We’ve been partnering with them for the past four years now through a series called Faith and Family, and we’re so excited to share that this past year, they won first place in their category at the national Baptist Communicators Association annual meeting! These were topics written about: Domestic Violence, Grandparents Raising Children, International Adoption, Loneliness, Self-Injury, and Pornography.
Here are a few of the outstanding comments received from the judges about this series:
Overall, the series is very comprehensive and thorough. Well thought out, helpful, and well-written. This provides your readers with wonderful source material for a wide variety of important family issues. Great job.
Rarely have I seen a more in-depth package of stories dealing with the very real issues facing American families. This is powerful stuff. The sheer magnitude of the problems and the solutions offered in the series makes this a definite, almost landmark set of stories. From domestic violence, self-injury, and pornography, to the process of domestic and international orphan adoption, this package not only looks at the issue, it offers specific solutions.
Tough issues handled deftly, by professional journalists and experts in these matters. Very impressive.
We are so proud of our counselors who have written and contributed to this series over the past four years. And as a ministry, we are grateful for the opportunities given to these men and women to be used as vessels to bring comfort, hope, clarity, and ideally, change, to people’s lives and families in Alabama and perhaps, beyond.
