Christ Fellowship Church: True Hearts to Serve
How would you define a superhero? During this season of “Superhero September,” we’ve recognized the super powers of service, generosity, and prayer as seen in the many who pour out their time, resources, and talents for those in our care.
The people of Christ Fellowship Church (CFC) in Birmingham, we believe, are also superheroes to the kids in our care. Generous supporters in multiple ways for nearly four years, our partnership has continued to grow since the very start!
A CULTURE OF SERVICE
Senior Pastor Bart Box leads the CFC community in caring for orphans and widows with a focus on James 1:27, “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” He has done this by modeling it in his own life by foster parenting and serving, as well as leading his team in opportunities to serve!
From that example, families at CFC have taken action, stepping up to become foster parents and also serving those who are. Ryan Adams, Elder and Associate Pastor at CFC, tells us there have been multiple families to foster within their congregation and currently there are even multiple children from our care, now adopted, who they are loving and discipling. Throughout the years, leadership at CFC has also had opportunities to pray over biological families of children in our care.
A PLACE FOR EVERYONE TO SERVE
“We realize not everyone in the church is called to foster, so at Christmas especially, we lead our church in rallying around foster families,” Ryan says. It is apparent to him during that season, the heart of the church as a whole is to serve those in need—they simply just need an opportunity to express it!
It seems to Ryan that every initiative they’ve done to partner with our ministry has been good for their congregation, good for those in our care, and good for the culture of their community. “Our people want to obey the Bible, and ABCH has helped them get their hands on what it looks like to do that,” he says.
TRUST AND SUPPORT
We appreciate all that CFC does for the fatherless, and we simply couldn’t do what we do every day if it weren’t for churches like them!
Ryan says, “We trust ABCH to help in ways that aren’t just good but are best. For people who want to fulfill this call in their own families and who say they want to do it through foster care or figure out ways to support those who are foster parents, ABCH seems to have the Biblical background and years of faithfulness to counsel them to carry out that commandment . . . We feel very confident in the quality of care these children are getting and have been happy supporters of that!”
