Dare to Dream
STAFF DEVOTIONAL BY Felicia Cooper | SOCIAL WORKER in OUR Birmingham Office
New Year’s Resolutions. Vision Boards. Focus word of the year.
January is a time when many of us pause and think deeply about what we want to see happen over the next 12 months.
Oftentimes, depending on where you serve, goal setting can be difficult in the work we do at ABCH. No matter how hard we want to see change in the lives of the families we serve, there is no guarantee that they will break free of the challenges many of them have battled for years.
Although we all struggle with different issues, we are often hard-pressed to make change in our own lives. We want to be more disciplined in our study of the Word, more faithful in prayer, a better steward of our finances and health. The list goes on and on—but sometimes it seems to be the same list year after year. We are tempted to become discouraged and not set any New Year’s resolutions.
Nevertheless, God and His redemptive grace challenges us to dare to dream—to catch a fresh glimpse of His vision for our ministry and lives.
Where do you see God working around you? What do you sense should be, and how can you help make it happen?
Dare to dream, because with God, all things are possible (Matthew 19:26).
“Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint, but blessed is he who keeps the law.” Proverbs 29:18 ESV
“Vision is a clear mental picture of what could be, fueled by the conviction that it should be.” Andy Stanley
