Hero Partner Spotlight: Your Impact as a Hero Partner
The Hero Partner program began in 2017 to provide a clear and easy way for donors like you who felt led to financially support our foster children and hurting families more regularly. Through your partnership, $237,156 has been given through Hero Partners so far in 2021 alone. This fund has a major impact on ministry programs, providing for hurting children and families in our state.
It doesn’t take a lot to make a BIG difference. You may be surprised how small amounts given consistently over time can change lives. For example, your gift of $25 a month can provide basic necessities like food and cleaning supplies. With houses full of kids and teenagers, the grocery bill can get pretty high. A gift of $50 a month can provide for school activities like band, sports, and field trips. Lots of our foster kids are able to participate in these everyday school experiences for the first time while with us, and it becomes a special part of their healing process.
Jessica is one of those kids who found hope and healing. She lived with us from the time she was eight years old until she graduated high school at eighteen and shares, “Before I came to ABCH, I was a very broken child. I had endured a lot of pain and suffering from neglect and wasn’t given the support I needed . . . They (ABCH), provided me with the love and nurture that every child is supposed to receive by their family . . . They showed me what it truly is to be loved through God’s grace.”
Our foster parents often need help in getting started when a new child enters their home. Your gifts of $100 a month can provide car seats or other starter items for foster parents who take in toddlers and infants. Foster care mom, Chelsea, recognizes the value of the body of Christ coming together to serve these children, knowing not all are called to foster, but that we are all called to help.
This could mean volunteering, becoming a Prayer Partner, providing everyday items from our Needs Lists, or giving financial gifts. Chelsea encourages those who are looking for a spot to serve, to consider coming alongside those who are foster parenting, “This is a ministry where we as a church are all called to be a part. It’s not just us as a family doing it. It’s us as a church doing it.”
Single moms and their dependent children are also impacted through your Hero Partner gifts through our Family Care ministry. Our three Family Care homes across the state provide safe refuge for moms like Tasha, who shared what a gift it was for her and her children to be in Family Care, “Coming to Family Care was truly a move from God. It made me realize that God’s plan is and will always be better than my own. I found real, agape love here . . . I thank God for the Family Care program and all that they have done and continue to do in the lives of women and children who just need a little help to get back on their feet.”
As a Hero Partner, your automatic, recurring donations go to the Hero fund of your choice or to the location nearest you. Your gifts have a direct impact on the most essential needs of children and families receiving care, like food, clothing, medical care, and more.
We cannot express our gratitude for you, our Hero Partners, enough or tell you all the miraculous ways your faithful and generous giving has impacted lives today and for generations to come. Thank you for being a Hero for children and families at ABCH!
