We Love Our Volunteers!

While our in-person volunteer activities are currently modified in this season of COVID-19, we are still so appreciative of our volunteers and wanted to take a moment to highlight and thank a few of them who have really made a difference for our kids and families over the years!

Our Volunteer Coordinator, Jules Thompson shares:

Peighton has been a faithful babysitting volunteer for two years now. She is always reliable, quick to respond, and goes above and beyond to connect with our families! For two years in a row, she has recruited her office to help with Christmas sponsorships and has helped in our Family Care donation drives as well.

Chelsea is a babysitting volunteer who is very passionate about serving her church family’s foster families. She recently recruited her small groups to serve in two different ways—helping us sort items in our sorting facility and helping with our Family Care donation drive. She is very engaged with us and always willing to help!

Abby is a college student who also volunteers with us as a babysitter. She shares, “My experience as a volunteer has taught me so much about grace and compassion. Serving the children in ABCH care has been one of the most fulfilling opportunities I have ever been blessed with. I always knew that I wanted a career where I could help people, but it wasn’t until I started volunteering with ABCH that I found my passion in advocating for children.” Abby's compassionate heart comes through in all the ways she seeks to care for those around her, and we’re grateful for her service!

Cynthia is a babysitting volunteer who is affectionately referred to by one of our foster families as their "Mary Poppins.” The foster mom shared in a thank you note to her a few months ago of how she has made a difference in their lives and in the life of a little boy in their care: "He loves you deeply and you are simply the best at making him feel loved, nurtured, and appreciated. He loves singing with you, cooking with you, eating what you cook, and always reading and playing with you. What a gift and ministry to our family as you come in and relieve us so often. Thank you for giving us time to go out and also time with our big kids. You are so good at loving all 6 of us well. God knew we needed a Ms. Cynthia on this journey and I’m so thankful he prompted me to call you the first time I needed help. One of our concerns as we began fostering was our lack of in town family support and God has provided you to meet those needs we have. Please know you are a gift to us from God.”

We are so appreciative of ALL of our volunteers and the ways they serve our kids and families.

While we are currently not offering new volunteer training in this season, we will be once determined safe to do so. If you are interested in volunteering with us, learn more by visiting here.
